Old Salopian (Shrewsbury School)

Shrewsbury School is an independent boarding school for pupils aged between 13-18, in Shrewsbury, Shropshire.

It was founded in 1552 by King Edward VI by Royal Charter and one of the original 7 public schools as defined by the Public Schools Act 1868.

Originally boys only, girls were admitted into the Sixth Form in 2008 and the school has been co-educational since 2015.

The school is renowned for its traditional sports, most notably cricket, football and Fives. It perhaps most remarkably has the oldest cross-country club in the world, called the Royal Shrewsbury School Hunt (RSSH or simply ‘The Hunt’).

Former pupils are known as Old Salopians, from the old name for Shropshire.

Probably the most famous is the naturalist Charles Darwin. Other alumni include: Michael Heseltine, Richard Ingrams, Nick Owen, Sir Michael Palin, Desmond Shawe-Taylor and the cricketer James Taylor.

The belt is based on the Old Salopian tie and is vertical in design, with equal colours of navy blue, yellow and brown.

All of our belts are hand beaded in Kenya by the Maasai, using an average of 6000 beads.

This belt is 1.5 inches wide.
