Light Dragoons

The Light Dragoons (LD) is a cavalry regiment in the British Army with a history in the reconnaissance role which dates back to the early eighteenth century.

The regiment was formed in 1992 at Haig Barracks in Hohne from the amalgamation of two regiments, the 13th/18th Royal Hussars (Queen Mary's Own) and the 15th/19th The King's Royal Hussars.

 All of the antecedent regiments had been regiments of "light dragoons" during the 18th and 19th centuries, including the Napoleonic Wars.

 One of the previous Colonels-in-chief of the regiment was Diana, The Princess of Wales.  

 The Light Dragoons recently assisted the public during the winter floods of 2014.

 The Light Dragoons belt is based on their stable belt - horizontal in style with alternating blue, red and buff stripes.

 All of our belts are hand beaded in Kenya by the Maasai, using an average of 6000 beads.

We use the highest quality leather to ensure our belts are extremely long lasting and durable.

This belt is 1.5 inches wide.

The old Light Dragoons tie is not a tie at all. It’s a Manyatta belt.

When the order is placed, the mamas in Kenya start beading your belt, utilising their cultural and ancestral skills. Once this is complete, the belt is sent to us in the UK. For this reason, please allow 3-4 weeks for delivery. Trust us - it is utterly worth the wait!
